IPhone 13: what can we expect so far from this smart phone maker?

0

The iPhone 12 was barely launched in October last year, and there is already much speculation about the next generation. Rumors say that the novelties of the iphone 13 include the end of the notch and the Lightning connector, the return of the Touch ID, always-on screen and camera updates, etc. Get to know the main and possible new features of the iPhone 13.

Without notch

There is still no leak news of prototypes, but the design of the devices will probably be familiar, with the same sizes and style of the 12 line. The housing should follow the change that happened in 2020, with the return to the straight sides. But the controversial notch, introduced in 2017 with the iPhone X, may finally disappear – or at least be reduced. Some competitors are already testing even cameras that see through the screen.

Without Lightning port

The Lightning door is also in danger of disappearing. It remains to be seen whether it will be replaced by the USB-C standard, or simply removed, to allow only wireless charging. Without doors, the device can come “shielded” against water, dust and debris. But, according to rumors that circulate in the international specialized media, this should only happen in the top of the line 13 Pro and Pro Max.

Touch ID return

The dear Touch ID, which allowed fingerprint unlocking up to the iPhone 8, can return – this time, not as a button, but as a sensor under the screen. It was like that on the most recent iPad Air, which had a side button. This novelty is good for those who are uncomfortable with facial unlocking, especially now that we are almost always wearing a mask.

Screen always on

As with the Apple Watch and several Android phones, the new iPhone may come with the screen always on. According to rumors, the screen would always show the battery percentage and time, in addition to selected notifications, without having to unlock it or “wake up” the phone. Several competitors have used the feature for years, taking advantage of the fact that O-led screens do not spend as much energy to show only these two elements.

Refresh rate

A screen with a high refresh rate, capable of displaying smoother and more fluid images, is an old dream of the owners of iPhone. It is speculated that the Chinese BOE will be the main supplier of sophisticated OLED panels for line 13 – in place of Samsung, which has been manufacturing the screens of iPhone for years. The new displays may support 120 Hz, perhaps even 240 Hz, according to rumors. Apple would be looking for a way to implement the novelty without expending a lot of battery — one of the solutions is low-power LTPO display technology.

Upgrade on cameras

One of the weaknesses in the IPhone 12 family is the zoom capability. The new iPhone 13 may have periscope lenses and even a mode for astrophotography, to obtain images with details of the Moon (for example). Night mode, for low light situations, should also be improved, with a larger aperture lens. The portrait mode, which blurs the background, can be expanded to videos.

Li-DAR for everyone

Li-DAR technology, which uses a 3D depth sensor to measure distances and blur scenes, can be expanded to all four models in the 13 line. It allows for photos that look as if they were taken by professional cameras, as well as interesting uses for augmented reality.

Conclusion

There is still no information on the price of the iPhone 13, or images of devices in field tests. If Apple follows the tradition, the devices are expected to be announced at an event in September. In 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the launch of IPhone12 was made on October 13.
